The 9-5 Lifestyle Around the World

The 9 to 5 lifestyle is one that we see all around us, every single day. It is a part of our daily lives. It puts the roof over our heads and the food on our plates. Most people who work, will be busy from the hours of 9 to 5, some even 8 to 5 depending where you live. However, this topic gets a lot of attention and stigma from people of all shapes and sizes, all across the world. Though are they right to criticise this way of life? Is anyone forcing them to do it? Is it really that bad? In this article I will go over the good, bad and ugly of the 9 to 5 lifestyle.

The Pros Of Having A 9 To 5 Lifestyle

So let me start off by saying the biggest pro; the money. Mula. Dosh. Whatever you may call it, it is all the same. It makes our world go round. It buys us the things we want and also the things we need. From the necessities like food, clothing and shelter to more flashy things like watches, cars and holidays abroad, money is involved. It fuels the average person’s materialistic desires and separates the rich from the poor. Like it or not… Money is around us. This is the biggest pro of having a 9 to 5 lifestyle and there is no way to earn the same amount of money or more other than starting a business or becoming famous. This is what drives most people to a 9 to 5 lifestyle. It provides security, stability, something to hold on to… However, do these upside values hold their worth in the face of the ever draining cons of having a 9 to 5 lifestyle?

The Cons Of Having A 9 To 5 Lifestyle

Okay now that we have gotten over the pros, let’s discuss the cons of having a 9 to 5 lifestyle. Well to start off you will be waking up most times at 7 to be at the office for quarter to 9. Then you will be working until 5 or even 5:30 some days with an hour lunch break. Then, depending on where you live, it may very well be over an hour long journey to get home due to rush hour traffic. Now it’s almost 7 and you still haven’t had your dinner. Once that is made and cleaned up its time to relax for 2 hours before you go to bed. To wake up and do the same thing again, 5 times a week for, well, until you retire or decide to quit. That’s the biggest con of a 9 to 5 lifestyle. No freedom except on the weekend, but we all know they fly by like they aren’t even there. You don’t get much time with your family or friends and hardly ever get time for leisure. You answer to someone else and lose your job (your income) if you mess up. For some people this isn’t so bad, but for others it can feel like the end of the world. These are the cons of having a 9 to 5 lifestyle.

The Ugly Part Of Having A 9 To 5 Lifestyle

The ugly part of having a 9 to 5 lifestyle is well… The truth. And that is for you to live a normal life and support your family, you’re going to have to work. You can start a business or become famous, but not the average person is cut out for that. At the end of the day you need money in this world and sometimes you have to do the things that you don’t enjoy doing to get that money. Therefore, work and a 9 – 5 is inevitable unless you’re willing to risk it all on that one business idea you have. That is the ugly truth about the 9 to 5 lifestyle.
